Day Planner Help File 07 - Surface Area and Volume Calculator

Figure 1 - Main Form
Once you click on the "Surface Area and Volume Calculator" icon on the Home Screen, the main form for the "Surface Area and Volume Calculator" will pop up.

Calculating Volume:
To calculate the volume of any of the figures shown, first, click on it's respective radio button. After that, the fields for length, height, width etc. that correspond to the shape that you chose will come up. In their respective text boxes, enter in the dimensions for the shape that you wish to work with. Next, click "Calculate Volume". The volume will then be shown in the text box directly under the "Calculate Volume" and "Calculate Surface Area" buttons.

Calculating Surface Area:
Calculating Surface Area is done in the exact same way that calculating volume is, however, click the "Calculate Surface Area" button instead of the "Calculate Volume" button.

A Note on Slant Heights:
To limit the possibility of geometrically impossible dimensions being entered, you cannot input any dimensions into the slant height field when working with cones, and square based pyramids. In order to calculate the slant height for theses shapes, first enter in the other fields, and then click the "Calculate Slant Height" Button on the left side of the form. Clicking this button will automatically calculate the slant height for you, and populate the text box directly above the "Slant Height" label.
Figure 2 - Exit Form

Exiting the Surface Area and Volume Calculator:
To exit the "Surface Area and Volume" Calculator, simply click the "Exit" button on the form. Once you have clicked the "Exit" button, another form will pop up, asking if you are sure that you want to exit the application. If you are, then hit the "Exit" button on the "Exit" form. If not, click Cancel on the "Exit" form.
